Homepage, Landing Page, Squeeze Page?

What comes first? If you want to build your list, use a squeeze page.
It’s a web page that has an attention getting headline and an opt-in form.

The type of page you want to use, depends on your objective.

I’m going to tell you about what the difference is between these pages and what you can use them for.

A home page and a squeeze page are types of landing pages. Whatever page someone lands on, is a landing page.

An opt-in page is the same as a squeeze page.
Because it has an opt-in form on it and you want to have the form connected to your email service or auto-responder to gather the info for you and direct it to your email list.

Your homepage can have an opt-in form on it, but you don’t have to.
It’s the first page or main page of your website. Which has a menu on it to navigate the rest of your website. Kind of like the cover of your website.
It is a type of landing page because they will land on it when they type in your website’s address.

With MailChimp, you can make mini-landing pages and squeeze pages with your opt-in form on it. They make it really easy to do and set up. So if you  wanted to, you could just use those when getting started instead of having a website if you don’t have one, yet.
Ideally, you want a website, but you don’t need one to get started.

There are a lot of free sites you can use to build a free landing page or squeeze page.
I recommend setting up a squeeze page because you want to build a list. Your subscribers on your list becomes your audience.

You need an offer for your squeeze page. Whether it is a free e-book or a mini email course, people want something in exchange for giving you their email address.
A lot of people will sign up to your list out of curiosity. You want to have a way that they can unsubscribe from your list at any time they want to, and you want to let them know that they can and how. I’m pretty sure that there is a law about that.

Also, it’s a good idea to put a video on your squeeze page. If you explain in your video what they’re signing up for, they’ll be more likely to sign up.

And you can direct the form to a thank-you page. It’s a good idea to put a video on the thank-you page, also. To thank them for subscribing to your email list.

Even if it’s “Enter your details to find out about (your deal)” If people really want to find out, they’ll sign up to find out more.

I’ve signed up to lists to see what their campaigns are like.
Even if I’m not interested in their deals, I can find out what they are and what they’re all about. How they are pitching their deals etc.

I’ll write more about campaigns in a future post. 🙂
